Environment

One of our main aims is to embrace environmentally responsible practices in all areas of our operation. We have a strong desire to improve the environmental reputation of the construction industry.

We are always anxious to be involved in many projects that respect, protect and enhance the environment, especially sympathetic renovation of listed and historical buildings, where relaxation of Vat may be possible.

In addition to our support for the Association of the Environment Conscious Building we have our own Code of Practice which we follow for office activities and contracts:

We seek to minimize the impact on the environment by

· Using recycled materials wherever possible.
· Disposing of waste materials for recycling or re-use.
· Using approved waste management companies.
· Advising our clients regarding environmentally responsible products.

In both new build and renovation work, we encourage our clients to consider simple, cost effective and practical ecological and energy issues such as :

· Insulation – The buildings thermal performance
· Maximization of solar gain and solar heating
· Passive ventilation
· Specifying non- toxic materials
· Obtaining materials from sustainable or recycled sources with low embodied energy,
· (which often favours organically based materials)

Our environmental approach to construction is not just taken for ethical reasons, it also makes good business sense. Recycling of materials is commercially viable because there are environmental groups willing to collect demolition material from site for a small charge; therefore disposal costs are reduced and waste sites are left unused.
